Who do you work with?

I offer Individual therapy to adolescents (12+) and adults for a wide range of issues. My clinical expertise and areas of interest are working with people who have experienced long-term mental health complaints, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety and Addiction.

I also work with couples.

I see people who have the following complaints or diagnosed disorders: emotion regulation difficulties; anxiety disorders; mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder); personality disorders; Post Traumatic Stress Disorders and, Eating disorders (particularly binge eating disorder).

I also see health care providers who are seeking their own mental health support and provide professional supervision.

What therapy do you use?

I use a variety of evidence-based approaches including: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), schema therapy, and psychoanlaysis. These are the main therapeutic modalities that inform the way I work, but therapy will always be individualised based on why you have come to therapy and what you find most helpful.

I strongly believe that one of the most important predictors of therapeutic success is the relationship between you (patient) and I (psychologist). Given this, I like to have a brief phone call before our first appointment to make sure (1) I feel I can help you with your specific needs, and, (2) also to give you a first impression of whether you feel you can work with me.

What are the fees?

Sessions will last for approximately 50 minutes and will cost $220.00 to be charged at the end of the session to your credit card. Please note the Australian Psychological Society recommend $300 for 46-60 minute sessions.

If referred by a G.P. along with a Mental Health Care Plan, or by a psychiatrist, clients receive a rebate of $96.65per session via Medicare for 50+ minute sessions. This will be processed at the end of each session. Up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions can be claimed in the 2025 calendar year. Usually the doctor will provide you with a referral for 6 rebated sessions and then after reviewing you will provide a referral for a further 4 sessions.  The full fee is processed in session and the rebate of $96.65 is credited to your nominated bank account by Medicare. If you are being seen under an Eating Disorder Plan you may receive up to 40 medicare-rebated sessions in the year.

Alternatively, clients may wish to claim the consultation fee under NDIS, WorkCover. If these options are available to you.

Private health rebates may also be available, depending on your level of cover.

Professional Supervision sessions are 50mins and cost $220 plus gst.

Peer Group Supervision sessions are 1.5hrs and cost $65 per session.

How many sessions do I need?

Generally I work with clients who are looking to explore longer-term issues in the context of how it is impacting them today. Given this, I tend to work with clients for longer periods of time over months or years. Ideally, it is a joint decision, where both of us will feel our sessions are no longer needed when I become "obsolete" and you feel comfortable without the support of a psychologist.

It is very unusual that I would work with clients for less than 10 sessions, so please consider finances in reaching out to me (as medicare rebates are only available for 10 sessions per calendar year)

Session Frequency

At the beginning weekly or fortnightly sessions are best to build some momentum towards your therapeutic goals. As we continue to work together we would start to space out the sessions as you begin to feel capable of doing more work independently outside of our sessions.

Psychoanalysis: Fees and Commitment

The cost of psychoanalytic therapy is discussed and agreed upon with the patient based on the frequency of sessions. Typically, patients engage in 3-5 sessions per week, at the same time each day. This regular schedule allows for continuity and deep engagement in the therapeutic process.

There is a commitment from the therapist to be available and to hold your scheduled session times, whether or not you attend. As a result, missed sessions are subject to a charge.

Engaging in psychoanalysis is an investment in your mental and emotional wellbeing. It requires both financial and time commitments, as the process typically spans many years. The work is intensive and can lead to lasting changes, offering deep and meaningful benefits over time.
